What are Nintendo Points Cards?

You can use Nintendo Points to buy WiiWare or Nintendo DSiWare games, Virtual Console games or add-on content for certain titles. Nintendo Points can be added to your Wii Shop Channel or Nintendo DSi Shop accounts by entering the code found on Nintendo Points Cards. When Nintendo Points are added to your Wii Shop Channel account, they will become Wii Points. Likewise, redeeming a Nintendo Points Card in the Nintendo DSi Shop will turn Nintendo Points into Nintendo DSi Points.

Nintendo Points Cards can be bought from retailers, or purchased online with a credit card in the form of Wii Points or Nintendo DSi Points via the Wii Shop Channel or Nintendo DSi Shop. Nintendo Points Cards can also be purchased from the Nintendo Points Card Shop with Stars from your Club Nintendo account.

What is the Nintendo Points Card Shop?

The Nintendo Points Card Shop is the place where you can swap Stars for Nintendo Points Cards. These cards can be converted to Wii Points or Nintendo DSi Points in order to purchase software and download it directly to your Wii console or to your Nintendo DSi.

Please note that you cannot use Nintendo Points with a Nintendo 3DS system.

The cards contain a number that you can enter in the Wii Shop Channel on your Wii or the Nintendo DSi Shop on your Nintendo DSi. This will then add Wii Points to your Wii Shop Channel account, or Nintendo DSi Points to your Nintendo DSi Shop account, which you can spend on such items as software for Virtual Console, WiiWare or Nintendo DSiWare.

Please note that old Wii Points Cards are still valid. Unused Wii Points Cards can be used to purchase Wii-related games and software or Nintendo DSiWare. However, when a Wii Points Card has been partially redeemed, the balance can only be used to purchase Wii-related games and software and not Nintendo DSiWare.

You can access the Nintendo Points Card Shop by clicking here.

I’m trying to link my Wii Shop Channel account to my Club Nintendo account, but it doesn’t work (Error Code 300 or 206401). What can I do?

First of all, please make sure you correctly follow the steps for this procedure as shown in the Nintendo Points Card Shop FAQ.

Many people encountered error code 300 in the Nintendo Points Card Shop, which was caused by the high amount of people trying to access the shop at the same time.

If you got the error code 206401 in the Wii Shop Channel, or the error code 205940 (or 205941) in the Nintendo DSi Shop, the problem is in most cases related to special characters in the password of your Club Nintendo membership. You can edit this password under Personal Data in My Account in the Club Nintendo section of this website. Please choose a password containing only letters and numbers.

Furthermore, the country setting of your Wii console or your Nintendo DSi handheld system should be the same as that of your Club Nintendo account. Also, please allow up to two hours for the link between your Club Nintendo account and your Wii Shop Channel account, or your Nintendo DSi Shop account, respectively, to take affect.

What is the difference between Nintendo Points, Wii Points and Nintendo DSi Points?

Nintendo Points can be purchased at retailers or you can swap your Club Nintendo Stars for them right here in the Nintendo Points Card Shop.

These Nintendo Points can then be redeemed either in the Wii Shop Channel on your Wii console or in the Nintendo DSi Shop on your Nintendo DSi system.

When you redeem Nintendo Points in the Wii Shop Channel they are registered as Wii Points on your Wii Shop Channel account. You can use these Wii Points to purchase software from the Wii Shop Channel, such as Virtual Console games or WiiWare games.

When you redeem Nintendo Points in the Nintendo DSi Shop they are registered as Nintendo DSi Points on your Nintendo DSi Shop account. You can use these Nintendo DSi Points to purchase software from the Nintendo DSi Shop, such as Nintendo DSiWare games or applications.

Please note that while the older Wii Points Cards (from retailers) and Wii Points Card numbers (from the Wii Points Card Shop) are still valid and can be redeemed like regular Nintendo Points, once they have been registered as Wii Points (on your Wii Shop Channel account) or as Nintendo DSi Points (on your Nintendo DSi Shop account) it is not possible to transfer them from one account to another.

Why can’t I purchase more Nintendo Points Cards?

We limited the amount of Nintendo Points Cards to one card per day to prevent fraud and abuse of the system. If you find that there are currently no Nintendo Points Cards available, please come back another day, as we replenish the stock on a regular basis.

I purchased a Nintendo Points Card in the Nintendo Points Card Shop. My Stars have been deducted, but where is my Nintendo Points Card?

In the Nintendo Points Card Shop you do not actually get a physical card, but you do get a Nintendo Points Card number, just like you would find on a Nintendo Points Card bought in shops. You can see all numbers you purchased in the Nintendo Points Card Shop by logging in and clicking on “Your Nintendo Points Card numbers”.

You can redeem your Nintendo Points Card number by entering the number in the Wii Shop Channel on your Wii home console, or in the Nintendo DSi Shop on your Nintendo DSi handheld console.

What can I do with Nintendo Points and how do I redeem them?

If your Wii is connected to the Internet, Nintendo Points can be registered as Wii Points in the Wii Shop Channel. The Wii Points can then be used to purchase Virtual Console, WiiWare games or add-on content for certain games.

Similarly, if your Nintendo DSi is connected to the Internet, Nintendo Points can be registered as Nintendo DSi Points in the Nintendo DSi Shop. The Nintendo DSi Points can then be used to purchase Nintendo DSiWare games or applications.
